KICK OFF THE NEW ENGLAND CHARTER SEASON AT THE 2019 NEWPORT CHARTER YACHT SHOW PRESENTED BY HELLY HANSEN NEWPORT

Newport, Rhode Island, USA (February 14, 2019) – For charter yachts who plan to spend their summer in New England, the Newport Charter Yacht Show is a great way to kick off the season to showcase the yacht, crew and water toys to over 100 charter brokers from around the country. Newport Shipyard, located in the heart of Newport, hosts the only charter show in the United States, which features luxury sailing and motor vessels from 60 to 200+ feet. Dates for this year’s show are June 17-20 and it is open to charter yacht brokers, agents and industry professionals. Registration is now open online at: www.NewportCharterShow.com

“We enjoy welcoming charter and industry professionals, captains, crew and show sponsors to Newport in June for the Charter Show just as summer is getting into full swing,” said Eli Dana, general manager of Newport Shipyard. “We encourage yachts to register early to take advantage of a 25% discount on registration and dockage fees, which is in effect until March 15.” Newport will once again be a popular charter destination with many great events happening this summer including the 12 Metre World Championship, New York Yacht Club 175th Regatta, Jazz & Folk Festivals, Candy Store Cup superyacht regatta, Newport International Boat Show, Audrain Concours Motor Week, and more. “It’s going to be a great summer packed with events and regattas that are sure to draw huge crowds from around the world,” Dana said.

The Newport Charter Yacht Show features three full days of yacht display along with industry meetings and seminars hosted by the American Yacht Charter Association (AYCA). The AYCA will be bringing industry-related sponsors and speakers to its educational seminar series which will take place throughout the Charter Show. Speakers will be scheduled on Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19 during the daily breakfast sponsored by Bank RI from 8:45am-9:45am under the main show tent. “Our Signature Breakfast will be held Thursday, June 20 from 8:30AM – 12:00PM with a speaker and round table format for intimate group interactions on key topics and information,” said Carol Kent, AYCA’s Seminar Series organizer. “This is a great opportunity to learn about exciting cruising areas, maritime law, new marinas, marketing trends, and more,” explained Kent. Attendees can register for the AYCA Signature Breakfast when registering for the show on the Newport Charter Show Web site. Registration for the Signature Breakfast is $30 when registering in advance.

The 2018 charter show showcased 19 luxury power and 5 sailing yachts ranging in size from 54 to 198-feet. With nearly 50 brokerage houses represented, the 2018 show also featured three evening parties including a captain and crew briefing, a yacht hop, and a final party and awards. The crew competitions are definitely a highlight of the show for captains, crew and attendees who can vote on Best Tablescape, Signature Cocktail and the Designer Water competition which is organized by the Charter Yacht Broker Association (CYBA). Kitty McGowan, president of the US Superyacht Association (USSA), a former yacht chef and event judge for the past two years, commented on how remarkable the level of the chefs and stewardesses were last year. “The chefs wowed our panel of judges with some very creative and unique desserts that were not only awesome to look at but even tastier to eat,” said McGowan. “I also enjoyed voting in the other onboard competitions for the best tablescape and signature cocktail and was most impressed with the creativity and attention to detail that the interior crew offer on each yacht.”

More than a dozen local partners and supporters have signed on for the 2019 Charter Show and “we are very excited to welcome back Helly Hansen Newport, our presenting partner who is returning for their fourth consecutive year,” concluded Dana. Sea Hawk Paints, Alexseal Yacht Coatings, KVH Industries, Bank RI, Bridge Liquors, ISS GMT, KEEL Vodka, YACHTING magazine, and our hotel partner, the Newport Marriott have also signed on as returning sponsors. In addition, Fore Points Marina and The CHANLER at Cliff Walk will be new sponsors of the 2019 show.
