The USSA has always been an organization build on the hard work and dedication of volunteers.  We need your input to keep this association strong and growing in the right direction.  Please look over the list below to see if you have a particular talent in one of these areas and the drive to help us achieve our goals.  Then contact that committee chair to let them know you can help. We thank you in advance.

Advocacy

Principal Duties

  • Maintain a methodology/discipline to identify potential advocacy issues affecting the industry, then apprise the Board and membership of the ramifications and finally recommend (or not) it being taken up as an advocacy issue.
  • Draft for board and membership approval a plan, including budget, for addressing approved advocacy issues.
  • Manage the advocacy efforts including exerting fiscal control and coordinating efforts of lobbyists as well as other associations and industry stakeholders.

Secondary Duties

  • Keep the membership apprised of advocacy efforts and their results.
  • Work with marketing committee to foster PR recognition for the USSA’s efforts.

Membership

  • Vet new members, ensuring each applicant satisfies minimum membership requirements soliciting additional information/clarification as necessary. 
  • Recommend (or not) the acceptance of proposed members to the board and members. 
  • Keep the board and members apprised of the status of new members progress.
  • Assist the marketing committee and provide information for use in membership promotions

Marketing: Events & Fundraising

Principal Duties

  • Promote the USSA, its members and stakeholders as well as generate new membership both domestically and internationally.
  • Coordinate the marketing efforts of regional cells. Ensure each event is properly conducted and meets budget.
  • Report to follow-up on all events including thank you and data collection.
  • Report to the board and membership on the results of events. 

Secondary Duties

  • Draft for approval by the board and membership an annual marketing plan for the USSA. 
  • Develop ideas for marketing events and other promotional opportunities. 
  • Draft a plan (including promotion, access control and attendee data collection) and budget for approval by the board and membership for each proposed event.

Marketing- Public Relations

  • Promote the USSA, its members and stakeholders as well as generate new membership both domestically and internationally. 
  • To ensure a member’s data is entered systematically to the website and members’ directory. 
  • Coordinate PR with press and other newsworthy entities both domestically and internationally.
  •  Coordinate the website, brochures and other deliverables with contractors.

Governance

  • Develop and update the bylaws of the USSA as needed, along with overseeing the implementation and adherence of said bylaws.
  • Coordinate with committees in updating procedures in such things as event planning, expectations of membership behavior in the industry, and membership disputes.
